TONGABEZI LODGE
- Zambezi River water lodge
- Victoria Falls National Park
- Magnificent Victoria Falls
- Canoeing and boating
Tongabezi Lodge is situated on a private estate on a sweeping bend of the Zambezi River, facing west towards the sunset and the Victoria Falls National Park.
25 kilometres (15.5 miles) upstream from Victoria Falls and set amongst stands of ebony and acacia trees, the Lodge comprises five cottages and five houses with spectacular views across the river. The cottages are comfortably furnished and the houses are all unique in design, all featuring en suite facilities with shower and bath ‘with a view’. The central lounge, bar and dining room are under thatch and there is a swimming pool which has been landscaped into the rock face.
Activities are varied and include a tour of Livingstone town to visit the Livingstone Historical Museum, Livingstone Railway Museum and the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park which is renowned for its rhino sightings. Instead of having lunch at Tongabezi Lodge you may opt for a picnic lunch on one of the nearby islands accompanied by a guide (at an additional cost), or, depending on the time of year, you may prefer lunch on Livingstone Island set at the very edge of the Falls. Water activities are by canoe or, for the less energetic ornithologist or fisherman, by motorised banana boat.
A visit to the Zimbabwean side of the magnificent Victoria Falls will complete your Tongabezi experience.
