- Bazaruto Archipelago
- Bewildering range of fish species
- Various exciting watersports
Surrounded by azure waters and basking in the tropical sun, Indigo Bay is an idyllic and totally unspoiled island paradise. Located on the southwest shore of Bazaruto Island off the mainland of Mozambique, this luxurious resort is a natural gateway to the enchanted archipelago. Each of the 48 chalets features air-conditioning, mosquito nets and en suite bathrooms.
The Bazaruto Archipelago is a small group of islands situated approximately 30 kilometres (18.6 miles) from Vilanculos. The diverse ecosystem contained in the archipelago caters for a wide range of interests. The white beaches and protected reefs surrounding the islands support dolphin, dugong, game fish and giant lobster.
The whole area between the mainland and the 150-fathom mark is now protected as a world-class conservation area. The shallow, crystal-clear waters, with dazzling soft corals, starfish, anemones, seahorses and a bewildering range of beautiful fish, extend to dive sites and many other water activities may be enjoyed. Fauna and flora on the island abounds – flamingos on tidal flats, endemic butterflies, hundreds of bird species in the wetlands, savanna grasslands and thickets.
Freshwater lakes are home to many large crocodiles and in total contrast the eastern strip is composed of huge bare and vegetated sand dunes. The resort offers a diverse range of aquatic activities.
