SELINDA CAMP
- Tented bush camp
- Selinda floodplains
- Abundant African wildlife
- Game drives & boating
A phenomenon that allows floodwaters from the Okavango River to flow at certain times into the adjoining Linyanti/Chobe River system has created a particularly beautiful area known as the Selinda spillway. The Selinda floodplains are a natural place for a wide variety of animals to congregate. Selinda Camp is situated on the banks of the eastern Selinda spillway among shaded riverine forest overlooking the floodplains.
The Camp accommodates only 12 guests in large, airy and well-appointed Meru-style tents with en suite facilities, all under thatch. The tents have two three-quarter beds, dressing table and mirror, bedside tables with flashlight, solar lamp and fresh drinking water. An extended veranda under thatch allows you to relax in shady comfort. The lounge and dining room area is built on stilts under rain trees offering superb views over the floodplains. A well-stocked bar and campfire area adjoin the dining room. A small plunge pool overlooking the spillway brings welcome relief in the midday heat.
Activities include both day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles and game-viewing by boat on the Zibalianja Lagoon (subject to water levels). Game typically seen in the Selinda area are giraffe, baboon, black-backed jackal, elephants, wildebeest, cheetah, crocodile, lion, wild dog, hippo, honey badger, reedbuck, roan, sable and a host of birds. For the more energetic, short guided walking trails are available within the vicinity of the Camp.
