Sasakwa, the flagship lodge of Singita Grumeti Reserves, is set high on a hill above the rolling plains of the Serengeti with spectacular views. With its elegant architecture and exquisite furnishings, the lodge is reminiscent of the early 1920’s. The long sweeping verandahs, beautifully appointed drawing rooms, fine antiques and works of art at Sasakwa truly reflect the exceptional style of a former era. Enjoy the fine cuisine in the beautiful dining room where shimmering silver candelabras, Stuart crystal and Wedgwood china compliment the mighty backdrop of the African bush.
Accommodation consists of seven luxurious cottages offering between one and four bedrooms, all en suite with bath, shower and dressing room. Each cottage also has a guest toilet, private living room, veranda with Swarovski spotting scope, garden and heated infinity plunge pool. The lodge areas offer a dining room, bar lounge, games room with satellite television, DVD player and library, Playstation and board games, and garden room opening onto wide wrap round verandas, as well as a library, billiards room, wine cellar, and The Trading Store. A unique facility of the lodge is the spa, featuring a steam room, relaxation area, hydrotherapy tub, gymnasium, yoga room and two therapy rooms for treatments. Many treatments can also be conducted in guest cottages. A heated infinity swimming pool and Jacuzzi are located alongside the Spa.
There are sixteen horses at the Equestrian Centre, a combination of polo ponies, part thoroughbreds and warm blood sport horses. All equestrian activities are led by professional, fully qualified horse guides. Tennis can be enjoyed at the Sports Pavilion, with a choice of court surfaces – artificial clay and rebound ace. Other professionally guided activities include game drives in open vehicles, walks, mountain biking and archery. At Sasakwa lodge there really is something for everyone.
