MALEALEA LODGE
- Country lodge in Lesotho
- Variety of accommodation
- Exciting horse trekking
- Spectacular mountain views
Malealea Lodge is owned by Mick and Di Jones, both born in Lesotho and experts on the Malealea area.
They specialise in horse trekking and can arrange one-hour to six-day treks. Horses are hired from the local Basotho people and huts are hired from their villages for the overnight trails. These treks explore spectacular mountain passes and provide opportunities for you to interact with local tribes, view remarkable San (Bushman) rock paintings and marvel at three of Lesotho’s highest waterfalls.
Accommodation at Malealea Lodge comprises nine en suite rondavels (round cottages) and 11 en suite bedrooms in the farmhouse, as well as six Basotho huts (with four communal bathrooms). Linen and towels are provided. Catering is at an extra charge and three communal kitchens are provided. For budget travellers, there are eight two-bed rooms and camping is also available. Electricity is supplied by a generator which is turned off late at night, so we recommend that you bring a torch.
