Like pearls on a thread of 1,400,000 sq. km of azure ocean, Seychelles comprises a nucleus of 41 spectacular granitic islands, the cultural hub of the nation, and 74 sparkling sand cays and out-of-the-way atolls. Together, these form six distinct groups: the Inner Islands, the Amirantes, Southern Coral, Alphonse, Farquhar, and Aldabra all lying between 480km and 1600km from the east African coast.
Seychelles is home to some of the most celebrated and picturesque beaches in the world, each one seemingly more beautiful than the next. Together, they have drawn accolades from prominent worldwide media. Mahé alone has over 65 beaches to choose from, ranging from those fringing hotels to others where the only tracks you will find will likely be your own. The Seychelles beaches are refreshingly uncrowded and pristine, and most islands have beaches that are in some way special. Some, like the famous Anse Source d’Argent on La Digue, are framed by impressive granite rocks that appear to have been sculpted by divine hand. Others simply offer sublime opportunities for relaxation on powder-soft sands under shady takamaka or palm trees, or unbeatable swimming and snorkelling in the warm, enticing waters of secluded coves and bays.
