ABOUT DRAKENSBERG
Drakensberg
A World Heritage Site, the KwaZulu-Natal Drakensberg is one of South Africa's most outstanding attractions which draws thousands of visitors annually due to its scenic beauty, crisp mountain air and clear waters. The Drakensberg Mountains - Dragon Mountains – offer breathtaking hiking trails for the novice and seasoned mountain climber.
The bushman or San paintings are one of the Drakensberg's and South Africa's greatest cultural treasures. Some 20 000 individual rock paintings have been recorded at 500 different cave and overhang sites. These rock paintings afford insight into the cultures and traditions of the San people.
Whilst the Drakensberg Mountains are a definite highlight of KwaZulu-Natal, be sure to visit the other attractions in the region, such as Zululand, the ancient battlefields, the tranquil North Coast and the bustling port city of Durban.
