ABOUT FRANSCHHOEK
Franschhoek
Meaning “french corner”, Franschhoek is a millionaire's playground offering exclusive boutiques, gourmet restaurants, stately homes and championship golf courses. Franschhoek was founded by 17th-Century Huguenots and is considered one of the premier wine growing regions in the world.
The Huguenot Monument is a reminder of these French immigrants and many of the farms and families in the area have kept their original French names. The surrounding region is a mixture of lush vineyards, rugged mountains and sparkling streams.
Other scenic towns comprising the winelands include Paarl and Franschhoek to name a few. A drive through these towns and surrounding areas is highly recommended.
