Day 01 - 05: Ballito
On arrival at the Durban International Airport, you will be met by a representative from CC Africa Safaris who will hand over to you your personalised travel journal and transfer you to The Boat House where you will spend the next four nights.
The Boathouse is a luxury retreat inviting you to take a front seat in watching nature at play. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast overlooking Salmon Bay before setting out for an activity-filled day at one of the nearby golf courses or just soaking up the sun next to our pool. Use the direct access to the beach for lengthy strolls along the Dolphin Coast line, or simply watch the tide come in while sipping a sundowner from our fully licensed bar. The en-suite rooms are each individually decorated with superb features like selected satellite TV, air-conditioning, telephones and tea and coffee making facilities. With all the comfortable surroundings of soft furnishings and lush carpets you will soon find yourself at home at The Boathouse. Recline in spacious living areas offering tranquillity after a sun-filled day at the beach. Abundant patio areas offer a superb view of Salmon Bay and dolphins playing in the waves. Enjoy a cocktail next to the pool or unwind with sundowners on the patio before dinner. Our chefs prepare a delicious selection cuisine that is complimented by a fine selection of South African wines. Specialities like fresh line fish, seafood platters and choice cuts of beef are enhanced by fresh herbs and exotic stocks and sauces. Lunch and dinner in our a-la-carte restaurant is a memorable experience.
Spend four nights at The Boat House. Accommodation is in a deck room (D) or in a luxury room (L). Your stay is on a bed and breakfast basis, including a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival.
Day 05 - 06: Pretoria
Today you will be collected from The Boat House by a representative from CC Africa Safaris who will transfer you by road to the Durban International Airport for your domestic flight to Johannesburg. (this flight is not included in the package). On your arrival at the O.R Tambo International Airport, you will be collected by a representative from CC Africa Safaris who will transfer you by road to Pretoria where you will be spending the night at the Sheraton Pretoria Hotel & Towers.
The Sheraton Pretoria Hotel & Towers offers delicious dining at an array of restaurants and comprises lounge, swimming pool, business centre, concierge, handicapped services, a jazz club and a nightclub. The Hotel is positioning Pretoria city as an ideal alternative to Sandton and Johannesburg for the international tourist. Pretoria is known as the cultural and historical capital of South Africa and is home to some of the country's most significant monuments and museums. Accommodation includes 175 rooms including 43 towers rooms, six diplomatic suites and one presidential suite.
Spend one night at the Sheraton Pretoria Hotel & Towers. Accommodation is in a classic room (D & L). Your stay is on a bed & breakfast basis.
Day 06 - 07: The Blue Train
This morning you will check out of the hotel. Please take note that should you choose the luxury option (L), the luggage restriction on the helicopter transfer on day 07 is 10kg in soft bags. This means that you will need to pack a smaller bag (containing enough for your stay on the Blue Train and at Madikwe Safari Lodge) and store any excess luggage in safe keeping at the hotel this morning.
You will be collected by a representative from CC Africa Safaris for your half day private tour of Pretoria. You will retrace the steps of history: From the Voortrekker Monument which commemorates the Great Trek and Pres Paul Kruger's House who was president when the South African War broke out in 1899, to Church Square and Melrose House where the peace treaty was signed in 1902. Your last stop will be the Union Buildings which houses the president’s office.
After your tour, you will be transferred by road to the Blue Train Lounge at the Pretoria Train Station for check-in formalities.
18h00 The Blue Train departs Pretoria.
The Blue Train is a magnificent moving hotel which offers its guests superlative accommodation, fine dining and superior service. The suites and deluxe suites offer guests unrivalled accommodation. Furnished in the finest bed linen, marble tiles and gold fittings, they boast an elegant ensuite bathroom, a private digital entertainment centre and a personal safe. Guests also have the added luxury of having a butler on call to ensure their stay is most memorable.
The main areas of the train include two wood-panelled cars (the sitting room and club car) – ideally positioned for an aperitif, a game of chess a movie and after dinner conversation, the dining car offers a selection of local menus (relevant to the landscapes in which guests travel through) and are accompanied by award-winning wines, and a jewellery boutique which offers a treasure trove of South African designer pieces as well as other quality mementos for discerning travellers.
Spend one night on board The Blue Train. Accommodation is in a deluxe suite (D) or a luxury suite (L).Your stay is on an all inclusive basis, including all meals, drinks (alcoholic & non-alcoholic), and gift give-aways but excluding French champagne, caviar and off-the train telephone calls.
Day 07 – 09: Madikwe Game Reserve
Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast on the train. The Blue Train arrives at Sun City Halt at 10h00. On your arrival at Sun City, you will be met by a representative from CC Africa who will transfer you by road (D) or you will be transferred to the Pilanesberg Airport for your helicopter transfer (L) to Madikwe Safari Lodge where you will be spending the next two nights.
Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the richly diverse and malaria-free 76 000-hectare (187 800 acre) Madikwe Game Reserve one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. Madikwe’s diverse geology and broad mix of habitats allows a wide range of African wildlife to flourish including the Big Five, cheetah and a thriving population of wild dog. Set on a gentle slope nestled between two rolling hills, Madikwe Safari Lodge overlooks game-filled plains with the Dwarsberg Hills in the distance and the Marico River nearby. Comprising just 16 suites, the Lodge offers exceptional game-viewing, simple yet sophisticated accommodation, superlative service and unique regional cuisine. Each suite features a sitting area, a bedroom with circular fireplace, a spacious dressing area with personal bar, an en suite bathroom with bath, indoor and outdoor shower and a private plunge pool. Intimate sitting areas have shaded outdoor seating on expansive covered decks. There are plentiful fireplaces both inside and outdoors with pizza ovens for fun dining and book-filled libraries. A covered outdoor living room offers beanbags and cushions on the floor for casual relaxation and the nearby boma is the setting for evocative starlit dinners. CC Africa-trained rangers will lead you on exciting morning and afternoon/evening game-drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles, revealing the magic of Madikwe’s wilderness.
Spend two nights at Madikwe Safari Lodge. Accommodation is in a suite (D & L).Your stay is on fully inclusive basis, including three meals, soft drinks, house wines, local brand spirits and beers, teas and coffees, scheduled safari activities, refreshments on game drives, Emergency medical evacuation insurance and laundry.
Day 09: Departure
After breakfast you will be collected by a representative from CC Africa Safaris who will transfer you by road to the Sun City Halt (D) or transfer you by helicopter to the Pilanesburg Airport for your road transfer to the Sun City Halt for departure on the Blue Train (L).
Lunch will be served on the train and you will arrive at the Pretoria Train Station at 17h00.
Upon your arrival at the Pretoria Train Station you will be met by a representative from CC Africa Safaris who will transfer you by road to the Sheraton Pretoria Hotel & Towers where you will collect your stored luggage.
