Environmental Considerations:
• Apart from CC Africa’s support of conservation efforts and rural communities, through the Africa Foundation (see appendix), CC Africa contributes financially to the conservation and protection of Mount Kenya through Kenya Wildlife Services
• At Lamu’s Manda Bay, the operator is very involved with the Manda Primary School and is actively lobbying for Manda Bay to be established as a conservancy area
Community Involvement:
• Mount Kenya ascents are guided by local Kenyans (Kikuyu) who have called the mountain home for centuries. They share their knowledge and teach guests of the spiritual significance of the mountain which is considered home to the gods.
• At Manda Bay guests are introduced to the authentic lifestyle of the local community through guided village visits.
