Hello from Tewksbury, MA.
My name is Rolf Seichter, call KE1Y, and I was born in Berlin, Germany, in December 1943. I graduated in 1968 with a MS Degree in RF Electronics and moved to Munich, got married, and started my first job with Rohde & Schwarz, a famous company in RF Electronics.
2 years later, somebody at Rohde & Schwarz told me about Digital Equipment, an upcoming, fast growing computer manufacturer. To make a long story short, I started working for them in 1970, was transferred to Maynard, MA in 1976 and have been here in the US since, residing in Tewksbury, MA. You might hear a son of mine, Chris, KA1SWF, from time to time on te higher frequencies.
I got the first HAM license in 1977 and upgraded to Extra in 1981, just because of peer pressure, especially on my favorite 80M DX portion of the 80M Band.
I thought I might throw in the above picture, showing close friends of mine, who also love 80M DXing, especially Rob VY2ROB, Krassy K1LZ, Dave WB1S , and myself. The picture was taken right after the latest Rochester HAM FEST. We can help you with info on antennas etc. for 80M, another good source is ON4UN's book. For more info, please check my web page through QRZ, the finest data base for HAM's.
You can meet us 80M Dx'ers almost every evening, around 3790 +/- somewhere in the 80M DX window. Hope to meet you soon in the pile up's.
